The problem
Blakley Electrics manufactures and distributes high-performance power and lighting products. Its website was outdated and wasn't built for phones or tablets, which is where many of its trade buyers now browse and buy.
Blakley wanted a store that performed better for the business and its customers: easier to find products in, easier to buy from, and a better reflection of its expertise.
What we had to solve
Around 1,000 products
Spread across many categories, so the information structure had to be thought through before anything was designed.
Buyers who start with their industry
Trade customers often know the application before the product, so they needed to start from their industry.
Specifying before buying
Buyers need datasheets and downloads to choose with confidence.
Buying on site, from a phone
Mobile and tablet purchases had to work as well as desktop.
What we built

A fully redesigned, responsive Drupal store with a modern, more visual design that stays true to Blakley's brand and makes clear it's an expert in its field.
It looks simple, but there's a lot behind it: a custom Industry Group product finder, faceted search across the range, and an extensive downloads and product selection system.
Industry product finder
Buyers start from their industry and reach the right products.
Faceted search
Filter around 1,000 products down to a shortlist.
Downloads library
Datasheets and documents alongside every product.
Responsive store
Browse and buy on desktop, tablet or phone.
The outcome
Blakley's customers can now find products the way they think about them, by industry or by specification as well as by category, on whatever device they have with them.
Got a process like this?
Applications, assessments, panels and deadlines. Thirty minutes on the phone is usually enough to tell you whether it is a six month job.
